The Debenham and Debnam Family History

This Debenham One-Name Study website was written and maintained by the late Michael Debenham, an enthusiastic member of the Guild until his death in May 2014. Over the years Michael had contact with many interested in the subject of Debenham family history.

It was his wish and that of his family that the site be preserved as he left it. Before his death Michael’s original site was accepted for permanent archiving by The British Library. It will also continue to remain available at www.debenham.org.uk, maintained by his family.

The registration of the surname Debenham is available to be taken over by a Guild member, who may continue a Debenham One-Name Study building on Michael Debenham's research. They may if they wish upload a new Debenham One-Name Study Website to this Members' Websites Project to sit alongside this "legacy" site which will remain here in accordance with Michael's wishes and those of his family.

Enter the Debenham "legacy" web site.

(The site will open in a new tab or window.)

More information about "legacy" one-name study websites.

"Legacy" websites in the Members' Websites Project are those which are no longer being actively maintained but are still available to view as a resource for genealogists and others. They were created by members who have passed away or who no longer wish to maintain them and have relinquished the relevant surname registration.

Please be aware that in general the Guild now has no contact details for the authors of legacy websites. Contact email addresses within the site will probably be out of date and the site may include links to external websites that no longer exist. The value of such sites is that that they preserve the data collected by their former owners and make available the analysis of those data and conclusions drawn.
